What happened in Penang stays in Penang

IMG_1842 - Copy
lol. Am back for almost a week for the spontaneous Penang getaway!! It’s just a simple 2 days 1 night trip with another 4 friends. We didn’t really went to heap lots of places because we didn’t plan for transportation earlier, renting a car would be just nice for five of us instead of taking taxis and buses.

Itinerary of the trip is rather simple.
We took a midnight train up because we were quite worried about taking midnight bus after so many horrible bus accidents. Reach Butterworth at around 6.30am and take the ferry(RM1.20) over to the island. Upon reaching, we took the Rapid Penang to Penang Road for breakfast(actually it’s Lorong Macalister, but it’s just 2 small junctions away)

Walked down Macalister Road to YMCA after breakfast, which was a rather stupid decision. We under-estimate the distance between the breakfast place and YMCA. We took really long time to reach and we have to rest for 20 minutes before heading to our next destination.

We wanted to go up Penang Hill but too bad the tram service was off. We think the taxi drivers might have conned us, they might have know that =( Since we can’t go Penang Hill, so we went over to Kek Lok Si which is just few minutes drive away(by the taxi drivers which charged us rm5 more).

For lunch, it’s kind of touristy to had Laksa opposite Air Itam market. I know Penangites will not agree with the choice, but bo bian, i don’t know other stalls. (Recommendations please so next time i can go)

Took Rapid Penang back to Georgetown after filling out stomach. Went to Clan Jetties which is just next to the ferry terminal. It’s amazing to see how people preserved the houses on sea so well.

The weather was really hot even the guys can’t take it. We decided just to stroll down Lebuh Armenian to see some kongsi-s then head back to Penang Road for Kek Seng ice kacang.

Went back to hostel for rest and bath before heading out for dinner at Gurney Drive. Stroll along the sea for a while and the rest is history.

The next day, we walked over to Ghee Hiang for tambun piah before heading down to Batu Ferringgi that Mohammad wanted to go so badly. I thought i haven’t been there until i saw the waves and remember how ah pong chase after the waves and vice versa 3 years back. lol.

I didn’t join them for water ski due to car sick from speeding into the beach. I always had problem with sea i don’t know why *grumpy* i got sea sick, car sick, i cant swim, i don’t know if i should go seaside or island next time *sigh* but i do want to go Mauritius, that place is sooooooooooooooooooo gorgeous. Yannick please fly us over to be your Chinese tutor. I promise i teach you good Chinese!!*teary eyes*

Took bus to Georgetown again for Nasi Kandar at Lebuh Chulia. I seriously have not had Nasi Kandar in Penang before, not even now because i ordered claypot briyani. yes, you may sweat, go ahead.

Then we bid Penang good bye and took ferry over to Butterworth for bus back home!

What happened in Penang, stays in Penang. *secretive smile*
